I am joining in on the Baby Surprise Jacket Knit along. I am way behind the others joining in. I started later and we were on vacation in Florida and then I caught a nasty cold. My progress on the sweater is slow going but I am plugging away.
I was able to find the pattern at my local yarn shop, and they actually had this sweater already knitted up to look at. It is so sweet. I am using babybamboo by Sirdar. It is a 80% bamboo 20% wool blend at it is just lovely. I think it will lay very nice. It is not very forgiving on my little mistakes, but I still love it.
I am knitting this sweater for our newest little blessing. Since we don't yet know what we are having I picked a "neutral" color. It is kind of a muted aqua. The pictures don't do the color justice. It reminds me of the ocean and the beach. Which, funny enough is where I cast this sweater on. Not once but twice. I didn't start with enough yarn at first. Typical for me ;0)
(I softened it to block out pattern specifics)
This is how far I am as of today, about row 19.
I wanted to add a cream color stripe to this and am not sure when or where I should add it. Help? Anyone?
Every time I pick this sweater up to knit. It reminds me of the day we spent at the beach with my Dad, the sound of the waves and the smell of sand and sunscreen. It makes me smile.
You have a New Zealand reader! How cool! Beautiful knitting!

Hello Kirsten, I just got my pattern this week and am hoping for some quality time alone with my stash (or the yarn shop:) At least you have started. Your stitches are lovely. I miss the color of the ocean in Florida.

I love the color and the meaning it has for you :) It will be beautiful to see your little one in it. I'm doing stripes on mine too if you want to see how it's working out :)

Kirsten,
It looks like you have the booklet from Schoolhouse Press with line-by-line instructions. If you do, page 4 has info on stripe placement. If you don't, email me.:-)
