Because you know Christmas is not here yet. The secular world would have you believe that Christmas is almost over, but really it is just beginning. Aren't you excited? Anyway, because I am a slacker blogger I want to post some pictures of our Christmas prep before the big day gets here.
We finally got our Christmas tree and decorated it.
Do you want to hear a sad true story about that Christmas tree? We bought it at a local farm stand that brings Christmas trees in this time of year. The guy said they just got trees in that day, so it was real fresh. He gave us a fresh cut on the bottom of the tree. When we arrived home we put it in the stand and filled the stand basin up with water. The next day it was empty. I filled it up with water again and that afternoon it was dry again. And so the cycle has continued until last night when I looked at our wood floor and noticed it was buckling. The stand must have cracked when we placed the tree in the stand, and all of that water seeped through the floor. The plastic bag we placed under the stand moved when we slid the tree back into the corner. So. Not. Good.
Julia had a Christmas Choral concert at her school. These girls sounded beautiful and it was nice and peaceful. Of course I cried. (Julia is in the first row in the middle)
And way back on December 13, the feast of St. Lucy we had some homeschooling friends over for a party.
We read Lucia, Saint of Light . We feasted, and made lanterns by painting terra cotta pots. They came out adorable. Of course I didn't get any pictures of the kids painting the pots, but they had a great time. I love these lanterns!!
And last but not least I loaded up the kids and drove downtown to meet Terry at church. We went to confession. All of us. It was desperately needed. I am so, so thankful for this Sacrament and all of the Grace and peace that comes with it. I'm not the only one who feels this way because the church was packed, with young and old. There were five priests hearing confession. Just plain awesome!! This was the most important Christmas prep of all!
Enjoy the rest of your Monday!
