Some girls go crazy over new clothes and shoes and purses. I go crazy for cows, specifically Jerseys. (Hey, Sussette, I hear you laughing. ) OK, in all honesty, I also go crazy for new clothes and shoes and purses, so there!
Anyhow, this is Daisy. She is the newest addition to our little farm. Daisy is a miniature Jersey. She is 10 months old. She will grow about another three inches tall and will be ready to breed in about 4-6 months. I have been looking for a long time for a mini. They are ideal for a family farm. They are very efficient eaters and give almost the same amount of milk. The butterfat content is equivalent which is fantastic. If you don't have a lot of land this is the kind of cow for you. Another added benefit to the small size is that a child can easily handle them. Catherine, who is 3, is taller than her! We are still keeping Rosie for now. She is 5 months pregnant and will calve in August. She was bred to a mini Jersey bull, so the potential for another small heifer is there. Very exciting stuff, if you are into farming. ;0)

I'm not usually that into cows but I have to say that Daisy is pretty cute!

I've never heard of miniture cows - which amazes me as NZ is a very dairying nation. She's a cutie!

I've never heard of miniature cows either. She IS cute....almost cute enough for me to want one too. But then I'd have to give you the milk. ;-)

Oh I love Jerseys! Their eyes get me everytime. We had a Jersey named Fattie who had the sweetest calf named Skinny but you HAD to lisp when you said it so her name was actually Thinny.
Cracked us all up everytime we called her in from the fields!

Cute, but they give about as much milk as a full-sized Jersey??
